As We Are Now is a dynamic and expressive work for six percussionists that reflects a deeply personal snapshot of my inner world during the time of its creation. This piece is dedicated to the extraordinary students of the Wakeland Percussion Program, whose energy and musicianship brought the work to life, and to their outstanding director, Brian Teed, whose dedication to his students and to the art of teaching continues to inspire me and many others.
