Music Crafted to Inspire and Resonate

CINEMATIC 2

Dark. Raw. Unrelenting.

The second installment in The Cinematics, Cinematic II strips the marimba down to two mallets and unleashes a relentless sonic landscape. Pulsing marimba textures collide with crushing drums, distorted synths, and searing electric guitar, creating a sound that is gritty, cinematic, and unapologetically powerful.

CINEMATIC 2

Musical Horizons marks my first method book for percussion—a project that holds deep personal meaning for me. The idea for this book grew out of conversations with educators who expressed how much they enjoyed my music, but wished for pieces that were more accessible for their students.

This collection merges technical development with expressive musicianship. Rather than approaching etudes as mere exercises, each piece is crafted as a standalone musical work—complete with its own character, atmosphere, and sense of story. The etudes progress gradually in difficulty, guiding students through the development of stroke types, coordination, and phrasing, all while keeping musical expression at the heart of their practice.

CINEMATIC 1 (PDF)
$40.00

Duration: 4:00”

Difficulty: Advanced

“Cinematic 1” is the first installment of a groundbreaking marimba solo with electronic track series that blurs the lines between concert music and film scoring. Drawing inspiration from the immersive soundscapes of modern cinema, the piece creates a rich, evocative environment that envelops both performer and audience.

Designed to push the boundaries of the percussion repertoire, “Cinematic 1” is a sonic journey that celebrates the expressive potential of the marimba. The instrument’s warm, resonant tones are interwoven with a dynamic electronic track, producing a tapestry of textures that are at once dramatic, poignant, and otherworldly.

At the heart of “Cinematic 1” lies the interplay between the soloist and the electronics. The marimba serves as both protagonist and narrator, guiding the listener through a sequence of musical vignettes that evoke cinematic imagery—lush landscapes, moments of introspection, and intense climaxes. The electronic accompaniment amplifies these emotional peaks and valleys, utilizing ambient sounds, rhythmic pulses, and orchestral elements to create a deeply immersive experience.

Through its innovative fusion of traditional and electronic elements, “Cinematic 1” challenges performers to explore new dimensions of expression while offering audiences a compelling and memorable listening experience. It is a testament to the versatility of percussion and its ability to resonate beyond traditional concert halls, capturing the spirit of storytelling that lies at the core of music and film alike.

Blue Horizon (PDF)
$20.00

Duration: ca 2:30”

Difficulty: Beginner/Intermediate

Blue Horizon is a marimba solo written for beginner to intermediate marimbists, designed to introduce expressive playing and musical phrasing at an accessible level. The title evokes the imagery of a clear, expansive sky, symbolizing optimism and the boundless possibilities ahead. This piece encourages young musicians to explore the beauty of tone and resonance in marimba performance while imagining new horizons in their own musical journey.

The inspiration behind Blue Horizon is twofold: it reflects the calm yet hopeful atmosphere of the music itself, and it represents a vision for the future of marimba repertoire. Beginner-level marimba solos are underrepresented in the percussion world, and this piece is intended to encourage more composers to create works that bridge the gap between early and advanced repertoire. Through Blue Horizon, I hope to inspire other musicians and composers to expand the accessible repertoire for young percussionists, sparking a movement toward developing a new generation of marimba players.

As We Are Now (PDF)
$125.00

Difficulty: Advanced

Duration: ca 7”

As We Are Now is a dynamic and expressive work for six percussionists that reflects a deeply personal snapshot of my inner world during the time of its creation. Written in a period marked by both creative clarity and emotional unrest, the piece captures a complex state of being—equal parts inspired, indifferent, and unsettled by broader world events and my own evolving artistic journey.

Rather than adhering to traditional formal structures, As We Are Now unfolds as a linear narrative, carried forward by perpetual rhythmic motion and ever-shifting patterns. This journey-like form invites the listener to be swept through a vivid tapestry of percussive textures and grooves, where each moment leads organically into the next. The musical language here, while reflective of my compositional voice and background as a percussionist, is crafted with accessibility in mind—opening the door for emerging performers to engage deeply with the expressive and textural possibilities of percussion ensemble music.

This piece is dedicated to the extraordinary students of the Wakeland Percussion Program, whose energy and musicianship brought the work to life, and to their outstanding director, Brian Teed, whose dedication to his students and to the art of teaching continues to inspire me and many others.
